We’re delighted to announce that entries are now open for the Clennell Trail Marathon from High Fell Events. The event goes ahead on Sunday 2nd August 2015 and is set in the amazing Cheviot Hills of Northumberland. With over 3500ft of ascent you’re guranteed to be tested on this long distance off road route. All you need to do is follow the well signposted course and reach all the checkpoints. The High Fell Events team will look after you all the way with food, drink and plenty of encouragment.
This event is aimed at making a weekend of it. By all means turn up on the day and do the event but how many times have you wished you could share the experience with friends or family? The event is run out of Clennell Hall Country House which has hotel rooms and a bunk house where you can stay. We also have free camping for the weekend but you must let the event organisers know in advance so space can be planned out. There is a restaurant and a public bar serving drinks and hearty food that will fuel you up/recover nicel
The Cheviot Hills around Alwinton and up the Coquet valley is one of the most remote and wild places in England. Seeing two or three other people in a day is considered busy and catching a glimpse of the remote and very well concealed mountain goats is considered a privilege. The route will take you along ancient cattle drover paths and within site of our countries history from long ago such as hill forts and roman remains. For the sharp eyed amongst you keep yourself aware to see buzzards, deer, ferrets, kestrels, badgers, foxes, otters and much more.
